Marjane Satrapi grew up wearing sneakers and beating up boys. She wanted to grow up to be a saint. When she was ten years old, her world changed overnight. Girls and boys had to use different doors to enter the school. She had to cover herself with a long dark robe. Grownups around her began to disappear. Marjane has several close encounters with the country’s morality police and her teachers at school. Iraqi bombs fall on the street where she lives. Eventually her parents send her abroad to receive a European education, but she is miserable: she loves her family and country, despite their flaws, too much to stay away for long. After a brief return and a failed marriage, Marjane leaves Iran for good.

Having traveled through much of the known world in search of Caesar’s sword, Ambrosinus has then become Romulus’s tutor. A Druid, he at times gives the impression he is a magician, but his “magic” is just trickery. Romulus’s father Orestes apparently rules Rome but is not Emperor himself.

Duck runs into Simonby this point, a desperate, cynical freelancer who needs a story big enough to propel him back to the realm of credibility. He tells Duck that, through a source, he has located Radoslav Bogdanoviknown as “The Fox”who is a wanted war criminal with a US$5 million bounty on his head: he is assumed to be in the village of elebii in Republika Srpska (Serbian entity in Bosnia), near the border with Montenegro.

The film opens with Salomon (Sali) gambling heavily and winning in a Monte Carlo casino just after the war. It then fades back to the late 30s in Germany where Sali is more fully introduced as he parties and does shady deals and is generally talked of as a successful forger. At the party he meets a woman who persuades Sali to forge an Argentinian passport for her, as she clearly intends to escape Nazi Germany. He takes her back to his house where he skillfully produces the fake passport and ends up in bed with her.
